Health Insurance Security: Pre-Exisiting Conditions Insurance Plan
Date: September 15, 2011
Time: 3:00 PM ET - 4:00 PM ET
Type: Webinar
Many older adults aged 50+ have found themselves too young for Medicare but considered uninsurable by private health insurance companies because they have multiple chronic conditions. Without coverage, they go without critical health care services.
The Affordable Care Act's Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan makes health insurance available to people who have had a problem getting insurance due to a pre-existing condition. It:
- Covers a broad range of health benefits, including primary and specialty care, hospital care, and prescription drugs.
- Does not charge a higher premium just because of a medical condition.
- Does not base eligibility on income.
At this webinar, discover:
- Who is eligible for this program
- What it covers
- How to apply for coverage
Speakers: Ramsey Alwin, Director of NCOA's Economic Security Initiative, and Jay Angoff, Senior Advisor to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius
